Under the Community tab, you'll find all your students' questions and the topics they've posted for discussion, along with your own. Here, in the forum, is where most of the interaction takes place, which is why all activity is public and visible for the students in your course.
✅ Forum dos
✔️ Answered questions:
Encourage your students to use the forum's search feature to look for answers to their questions before asking, as the topic may have already been discussed and resolved.
✔️ Important questions:
If you're going to answer a highly important question, ideally you should create a new comment in the topic so everyone can see your answer and learn from it. Don't forget to tag the student who originally asked to ensure they get the notification.
✔️ FAQs:
If you notice a question or query comes up often among your students, you can add it to the frequently asked questions lists in the Frequent questions section, which is located under the Community tab in your course.
✔️ Questions already on the FAQ list:
If a student asks about a topic that you've covered in the Frequent questions section, you can send them the link to the answer to avoid repeating information and then close the topic.
✔️ Questions outside the forum:
If a student asks you a question via private message, social media, or other means, ask them to post it in the forum so their fellow students can learn from it too. This keeps everything in one place and helps you optimize your time in the forum.
✔️ Non-content-related questions:
If a student asks you a question that's not related to the course content (e.g., issues viewing videos or purchasing the course), please ask them to contact us through this form so the Support team can fix the issues as quickly as possible.
✔️ Absence in the forum:
If for any reason you will be temporarily away from the forum, keep your students informed by creating a ‘New banner’ with an explanation and the date you'll be back to answer their questions This banner will appear on all forum pages and will be automatically translated into the student's language. You can also use it for any other relevant purpose, as long as it's under 140 characters.
Take the opportunity of being absent to encourage students to give feedback to one another, as this creates and fosters a sense of community.
❌ Forum don'ts
✖️ Constantly add new topics:
Every time you create a new topic, students are notified by email. We recommend that you only create one new topic a week; otherwise, your message may potentially be marked as spam.
✖️ Answer course-related questions outside the forum via private message or other channels:
As mentioned above, we highly recommend keeping communication to the forum in threads to encourage community-based learning.
We're working hard to improve your experience on the app every day. However, until we've fully developed the app's forum management features, we suggest you address student questions from your computer to ensure your answers aren't mistaken as comments from a new student.
✖️ Forget to notify your students of an absence:
If you plan to be temporarily absent from the forum, it's crucial that let your community know to avoid negative reviews. Click here for an explanation.
When replying to one of your students, make sure you use the ➡️ Reply button, which you'll find below their comment, instead of the grey text box at the bottom of the topic (the system won't recognize who you're responding to if you use the text box). Using the ‘Reply’ button ensures that the student who asked receives a notification email about your response.
